Review: “All That I Regret” by Eaux Neaux
All That I Regret, the late 2010 album release of independent artist Eaux Neaux is visceral and deadly in its honesty, and presents a poisonous truth about the harmful memories that haunt us, the memories we try so desperately to leave behind and so aggressively try to escape.
In comparing this release to his previous albums Shit Luck (2007), Happiness Is Ugly (2008), and Misery Swimmingpool (Early 2010 release), it is clear to see that the defining, separating and enhancing factor of this album is its music production. the music of the album is carved and crafting with precision and feels like a movie score more than individual songs. The music builds slowly to an unforgiving and incredibly explosive climax in the ending song “Cold Sweat” and is reminiscent of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ “The Social Network” score.
The lyrics of the album are poetic in their honesty and dark in its tone. Personal lines that ring with musical eloquence while seeming like sentences that could come out of the journals of any person. Heartbreaking and heart pounding, they assist the music, traveling along side it on the journey of the album. They create a visual road for the momentum of the music to travel down.
All in all the album is great in its electronic production and deserves to be heard.
