La Trappe Quadrupel Trappist Ale. Belgian-style ale from the Netherlands. 10% alc./vol. $7 for 750mL bottle.
not so much of a spice presence as the Chimay Tripel that i had yesterday, but instead lots of sweet dark candied fruit flavours. at times it almost seems like there is too much of this sweetness, but the finish is just mellow enough to keep me coming back for more. this is a very big and rich beer. you can definitely feel the warmth from the 10% abv. definitely not for everyone, but if you’re into ass-kicking Belgian-style ales then give this one a try.
